I have never smelled the original. I sprayed right out of the box and I love it. It is soft and clean smelling. I personally think it is more masculine but it smells so good I will wear it. It does not smell heavy musky. If I had to blind buy this I would. The worse thing is that you might have to return. But I feel I would gamble on this one!
